BIO

Paul has 40+ years of live and studio experience from gigs like opening for Social Distortion and the original Vandals in 1985 to touring the coast to coast of the US as a member of the SGV punk band Mad Parade; supporting punk legends 999, The Undertones and The Lurkers.

Paul Almanza is a musician and songwriter from the East Valley of Los Angeles (aka San Gabriel Valley or SGV). Starting as co-songwriter and guitarist for the 80s pop punk band, The Steps, Paul became the lead singer by proxy after lead vocalist, Rick Carlisle left the group, and he never looked back. Paul went on to form Chainsaw Pop, Million Six, Battery Life, The Curbhounds and plenty of other projects as seen on his Youtube Channel. 

Paul’s music can range between the genres of punk, pop and old rock ’n roll and R&B.

In 2005, Paul was chosen to play guitar for TV Smith’s Great American Mistake Around 2018 Gutterwail Records released the 12" vinyl compilation called Valley Blvd. Chainsaw Pop (Spotify link) appeared on the compilation. Since then, Paul and drummer Scott Hillman revisited Chainsaw Pop and released their long time coming 13 song EP. Stream the single: Don't Start
